Mantle is built around a simple principle: the most personal thing you'll ever record shouldn't leave your device unless you decide it should.
What Mantle stores
When you use Mantle, the app records and stores the following on your device:
- Your name and your child's name (or names, if you have more than one)
- Your child's birthday
- The voice notes, text entries, photos, and videos you record
- Settings preferences (theme, active child)
Where it's stored
All of the above is stored locally on your device, in the app's private storage area. None of it is transmitted to Mantle, the developers, or any third party. Mantle has no servers and no cloud component.
What we collect from you
Nothing. Mantle does not include analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or any background telemetry. We do not know:
- That you've installed the app
- How often you use it
- What you've recorded
- Anything about you
Permissions Mantle requests
- Microphone — to record voice notes and video audio
- Camera — to capture photos and videos
- Photo library — only if you choose to attach an existing photo
Each is requested only when you actively trigger that capture flow. None are used in the background.
Data deletion
You can delete individual entries from inside the app. Settings → Dev tools → "Reset all data" deletes every entry, every media file, and your profile in one step. Uninstalling Mantle removes everything from your device immediately — there is no cloud copy.
Children
Mantle is designed for parents recording for their children. The app is not intended for use by children directly.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, surface a notice in the app. The privacy guarantees above are core to what Mantle is — they're not going anywhere.
